After School Program

An after school program is available for elementary school-age children on James Island operating from 2:45 – 6:00 PM, Monday-Friday.

Extended child care service is also available from 6:30 AM – 6:00 PM on days school in the Charleston County Public School District are closed due to teacher in-service, work days or extended holidays (spring and Christmas breaks).

Children are picked-up at James Island Elementary, Harbor View Elementary and Stiles Point Elementary schools with 15 or 30 passenger buses owned by the James Island Presbyterian Foundation.

The typical after school program schedule is as follows:

• 2:50 – 3:00 PM            children arrive in the gymnasium
• 3:00 – 3:30 PM            circle time, announcements, snacks, play
• 3:30 – 4:30 PM            home work room or recreational activities
• 4:30 – 6:00 PM            indoor/outdoor recreation, clean-up

The after school program fees for the 2009-2010 school year is:

• 1st child,           $60.00 per week
• 2nd child,           $40.00 per week
• Annual family registration fee of $75.00
